Interline Advisor

What you’ll be doing

The objective of the Interline Advisor role is to ensure revenue, from the Interline/Codeshare channel, is accurately recognised and done so in a timely manner and according to the negotiated airline agreements and IATA regulations. The Interline Advisor works together with the Commercial, Strategy and Loyalty business areas, other airline interline billing counterparts (and the outsourced processing Revenue Accounting vendor) to achieve results.

Further responsibilities: 

  • Manage the interline settlement process, accurately in a timely manner
  • Ensure all manual billings, while automation is in place for most transactions, with interline partners are managed in a controlled manner, and exceptions and issues are appropriately resolved
  • Resolve billing disputes in accordance with SPA or industry standard
  • Support the process of interline billing audits and ensure that billings are audited accurately within IATA timeframes to avoid revenue loss
  • Be recognised as the expert in IATA Interline Revenue Accounting rules and procedures and associated impacts
  • Clarifying commercial intention of SPA to outsourced vendors when there are system variances
  • Review SPAs and discuss the applicability and business intent with SPA owner if any ambiguity, revenue leakage or revenue accounting system limitation is observed
  • Review testing examples for SPA coding and provide with more possible ticketing scenarios when necessary
  • Resolve vendor queries on daily basis and provide guidance on complex billing disputes and dispute resolution between vendors
  • Support the Revenue Accounting outsource provider in relation to Interline Billing and ensure the outsource vendors are meeting expected SLA’s
  • Act as a point of contact and provide feedback to Partner Airlines as required
  • Continuously look to identify and implement process improvements

You’ll be great in this role if you have…

  • A tertiary qualification in business, commerce, accounting or a relevant quantitative discipline is desirable
  • At least 2 years’ post qualification experience in the aviation/airline industry
  • At least 2 years' experience with Airline ticket transactions including issuance, refund, and/or Interline/Codeshare billings
  • Proven ability to work to strict deadlines with adaptability to changing priorities  
  • Interpersonal skills which enable both independent and team work with both onsite and external
  • An eye for detail and ability to efficiently analyse ticketing and proration data to prevent revenue leakage
  • Advance MS Excel skills
  • Initiative to look for and implement process improvements;
