Maintenance Support Manager

What you’ll be doing…

As the Maintenance Support Manager, you will be responsible for the management of a multidisciplined team providing various services to support aircraft maintenance. This role requires you to successfully manage the maintenance support functions efficiently and cost-effectively, aligning the required processes to support the Aircraft Maintenance Team. You will be required to have a high level of understanding of the Virgin Australia Group business environment along with Aircraft Maintenance, Stores and Logistics, Resourcing and Training. Additionally, you will be required to understand the government regulations that are applicable to Virgin Tech and yourself as a CASA 145/147 Responsible Manager.

This role is based at our Virgin Australia Hangar – Brisbane (must be Brisbane based)

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead & Develop: Coach and mentor a diverse support team, identifying talent for future leadership opportunities
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all team members understand and comply with OH&S, environmental, and other statutory obligations, as well as company policies. Take prompt corrective action when non-compliance is identified
  • Training Oversight: Oversee 145 training requirements and manage the Virgin Tech Part 147 Training Organisation. Partner with leaders to deliver operational training needs and act as the central point of contact for Aircraft Maintenance team inductions
  • Systems & Planning: Collaborate with IT and Engineering Business Systems to support the tools and platforms used by the maintenance team, including rosters, iPads, eMRO, and eMobility systems
  • Tooling & GSE: Oversee procurement and maintenance of tooling and ground support equipment inventories
  • Business Acumen: Drive cost control initiatives and identify commercial opportunities within the maintenance support function
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strategic relationships with internal and external partners to ensure continuous improvement and deliver on business objectives

What you need to be successful…

  • Extensive experience in Aircraft Maintenance Operatons or demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Strong leadership background, ideally in Line and/or Base Maintenance environments
  • Tertiary qualifications in Aviation Management (or equivalent experience)
  • Solid understanding of CASA and EASA airworthiness requirements
  • Strong understaing of WHS and workplace legisaltion/regualtions
  • Eligible to hold CASA Part 145/147 Responsible Manager position
  • Commercial mindset with experience in resource planning and cost control
  • Strong people management, change management, communication and influencing skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and organisational skills
  • Current State Driver’s Licence and ability to hold an ASIC
  • APAM Level 2 driver’s licence

Desirable:

  • Aircraft Maintenance Licence
  • Knowledge of FAA, CAA NZ, and broader international aviation regulations
  • Project management exposure or qualifications
