About the program...
The Virgin Australia Aircraft Maintenance Apprenticeship Program is your opportunity to join one of Australia’s most iconic airlines and kickstart your career in aviation. Become part of a company that genuinely believes and demonstrates that its people are its greatest asset.
As an apprentice, you’ll work in a highly respected CASA Part 145 organisation while completing a nationally recognised qualification in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering. Over four years, you’ll rotate through our Engineering departments and gain hands-on experience in line and overnight maintenance on our Boeing 737 fleet. You will be part of our team that
- Services and Repairs Gas Turbine Engines
- Services and Repairs Airframe systems:
- Hydraulics
- Flight Controls
- Air Conditioning
- Pneumatic Systems
- Carries out Rectification of Avionic Systems:
- Autopilot
- Navigation
- Display Systems
- Communications
- Performs Overnight Servicing
- Carries out Modifications
- Maintains and updates In Flight Entertainment
What you need to succeed!
Apprenticeships available in mechanical, structures and avionics.
We are looking for candidates who are highly driven to excel through what will be a challenging and demanding apprenticeship. You will demonstrate well-established analytical skills, high attention to detail and exceptional communication skills.
- Have a passion for a career in the aviation industry
- Have a genuine interest and aptitude for hands on mechanical/electrical work
- A safety first attitude and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Be 18 years or over
- Hold a current state driver’s licence (Provisional or above)
- Minimum year 10 high school completion
- Australian Citizenship or hold Australian Permanent Residency Status
- The ability to work rotating shift rosters, including overnights - 24 hours, 7 days a week (inc public holidays). The role is pre-dominantly night shifts throughout the 4-year apprenticeship, on a 4 on / 4 off roster.
- Be available for a Jan 2026 start (ETA 12 Jan)
- Pass a full medical and background check
