What you’ll be doing

As a Regional Airports Manager, you will work within a specialist team who is responsible for providing leadership, expertise and guidance to internal and external stakeholders to enable the safe, efficient and effective operational delivery of Virgin Australia’s customer strategy across our Regional & International Airports. You will be responsible for operational outcomes across a large portfolio of domestic & international airports.

This position is based in Brisbane Head Office in Southbank and, you will work under the direction of the Head of Airports – Regional & International.

As an Regional Airports Manager, you will:

  • Ensure the best commercial and operational results are achieved with a critical focus on safety and ultimate customer experience outcomes.
  • Work with contacted ground handlers and airport authorities s to deliver exceptional outcomes   
  • Manage operational outcomes against set contractual KPIs both independently and in collaboration with Commercial Partnerships Manager.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate and engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including executive and senior leadership teams.  
  • Execute adequate and appropriate response to business risks including safety occurrences, OTP, business resilience, and customer service delivery requirements.
  • Work to inspire safe work cultures within Ground Handling agencies, lead and own all safety related events and ensure compliance to Virgin Australia’s Safety Management System
  • Be based in Virgin Australia Head Office in Brisbane. Please note, regular travel will be required

You’ll be great in this role if you have…

  • Strong, demonstrated experience of Ground Handling operations within aviation
  • Significant demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement across multiple organisations such as ground handlers, airport authorities, government agencies and regulators
  • Experience with holding third party providers accountable to SLAs (Service Level Agreements)
  • Experience with SMS frameworks and in aviation Safety & Security management
  • Proven time management skills to manage multiple and at times conflicting priorities whilst delivering strong outcomes
  • Experience in conducting business analysis and making detailed recommendations to positively impact customer, operational, safety and commercial outcomes.
  • Awareness of domestic and international airport Regulatory environments
  • A great team player who is inspirational, self-motivated and highly professional.  Have emotional intelligence with the ability to read, monitor and understand behaviours and respond effectively to affect positive outcomes
  • Ability to quickly adapt to change and learn quickly in evolving environments
  • Ability to travel regularly and at short notice both interstate and internationally as required
