The Information Security function at VA is a holistic capability, incorporating security operations, governance, architecture, risk management and business outreach.  As the Training and Awareness Specialist you will be responsible for managing VA’s information security awareness program and guiding information security training, targeting key behaviours that reduce our information security risk.

What you’ll be doing:

• Maintain and improve VA’s information security training and awareness program to mitigate risks and ensure employees understand their role in keeping VA secure. 
• Work with other specialists across teams to identify and evaluate the top risks to the organisation and the changes in behaviour that would mitigate them. 
• Manage and build on a metrics framework for compliance with information security policies and overall effectiveness of the information security training and awareness program. 
• Use your understanding of employee awareness around the organisation to advise and influence projects and other information security uplift. 
• Work with business units to tailor information security training and awareness materials to improve outcomes and meet regulatory or compliance standards.
• Create and manage effective, fresh and targeted awareness and training materials that ensures employees and third parties understand, acknowledge and fulfill their information security responsibilities. 

You’ll be great in this role if you have:

• Experience in a similar training or information security awareness role,communications, and/or marketing.  
• Experience in technical training or adult education.  
• Skills communicating information security risks and desirable behaviours to employees across an organisation in a clear and concise manner.
• Effective influencing skills to convince others to change their priorities and behaviours. 
• Experience working with security, HR, privacy, risk management and compliance teams.
• Mature stakeholder management skills and demonstrated emotional intelligence to deal with complexity and uncertainty.
