We are seeking an exceptional and highly experienced Head of Business Development – Velocity Partnerships to spearhead the next phase of growth in Velocity. As a senior leader within the Commercial team, you will drive the acquisition of high-impact, strategic partnerships that will shape the future of our business.
A background in Financial Services sector will be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Business Development Strategy: Lead the creation and execution of a forward-thinking strategic business development plan to fuel revenue growth, member acquisition, and long-term retention within Velocity.
- Identify and Develop growth opportunities: Drive the identification, pursuit, and acquisition of high-value partnerships particularly in financial services (e.g., focusing on banks, fintech). Innovation and strategic alignment will be central to your approach.
- Commercial Negotiation: Lead end-to-end deal execution, from identifying opportunities and developing value propositions to negotiating and closing contracts, ensuring strong commercial outcomes.
- Data-driven Storytelling: Use data to craft compelling business cases and partnership proposals.
- Market and competitive analysis: Monitor industry trends, partner activity and emerging technologies to refine partnership strategy.
- Lead the Business Development team: Drive, coach and mentor the performance of the business development team
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with teams in Marketing, Finance, Data & Analytics, and Operations to ensure seamless onboarding and sustained success of new partnerships.
What You Bring to the Role:
- 10+ years of commercial experience in Business Development, with a focus on Financial Services, sales, or key account management, and a well-established network.
- A proven track record of success in leading and closing high-value, complex commercial deals from strategy through to negotiation and execution.
- Deep industry expertise in financial services, including banking, payments, and fintech.
- A strong history of securing multi-million-dollar, high-value partnerships that drive business growth.
- High proficiency in building business cases, using data to uncover new opportunities, and structuring impactful commercial deals.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage C-suite executives and key stakeholders.
- Experience in loyalty programs or consumer-facing industries is highly regarded, particularly in areas of acquisition and engagement marketing.
- A strategic mindset, with an eye on market trends, emerging technologies, and evolving customer needs within financial services and loyalty sectors.
