Production Planner

Based at our Virgin Australia Melbourne Hangar
Fulltime (4 days on/4 days off)

Hello. We’re Virgin Australia. And we’re back (in a big way).

We’re the airline that’s always done things a little different. Our way. The Virgin way. For us, flying is so much more than simply taking off and landing (although we understand that is quite important). It’s about going the extra mile, in the air and on the ground, to create authentic experiences that put our guests firmly at the heart of everything we do.

No matter our role – we are united by our ambition to be the most loved airline in Australia, and always go one step further for our customers, colleagues and our wider community.

Who we’re looking for:

A natural analytic with strong planning and forecasting resource skills within a maintenance environment.

What you’ll be doing:

As the Production Planner you are responsible for the planning, coordination and monitoring of all resources required to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery of maintenance and repair services at the Hangar and Line operations.

Additionally, you will be responsible for;

  • Reviewing and interpreting the maintenance tasks to determine the correct trade stream, manpower levels, required parts, tooling and other resources as well as quality and safety requirements
  • Negotiating priorities with the Operator where aircraft ground time or other constraints impacts the ability to complete the schedule maintenance
  • Providing SME input and recommendations on the successful delivery of the maintenance plan
  • Identifying and reporting production risks
  • Planning resources to meet work schedule commitments in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Planning, development and monitoring of the production control system
  • Coordinating work packages with the airline planning departments
  • Coordinating work packages for both Hangar and Line maintenance
  • Ensuring all relevant resources, i.e. maintenance data, parts, tooling, equipment or specialist maintenance support (NDT, Composites, boroscope) is available for maintenance production
  • Forecasting manpower levels and updating rosters
  • Forecasting parts and tooling shortfalls
  • Identifying capability gaps in delivery of the maintenance plan
  • Capture data which is identified as required by the EMS or Process Instructions to support planning processes and activity.

You’ll be great in this role if you:

  • Hold experience in planning and forecasting resource levels within an aircraft maintenance environment
  • Have the ability to think conceptually and adapt to changes in work schedule commitments.
  • Are able build close working relationships with internal stakeholders
  • A working knowledge of Part 145 and Part 42 regulatory compliance with regard to aircraft maintenance activities (desirable)
  • Are able interpret technical manuals to identify the requirements of the maintenance activity to build the production plan
  • Have excellent organisational skills together with strong analytical skills

What you’ll get from us

We’re committed to looking after you, with some of the best benefits and conditions in the industry – including (but not limited to):

  • Heavily discounted air travel for you and your loved ones (including $1000 worth of travel credits per year)
