What you’ll be doing…

As the Manager of Aircraft Maintenance for the (Southern) region, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing effective management of Aircraft Maintenance including Line/Hangar Maintenance, and Stores performance objectives for your respective region.

In this role you will provide leadership, management and coaching of the Aircraft Maintenance Team to successfully deliver safe and compliant work practices in accordance with Virgin Tech’s, Virgin Australia’s and the regulatory requirements whilst delivering an excellent customer experience along with budget and financial outcomes to meet company corporate targets.

The position is based in Melbourne and, you will work closely with the Head of Aircraft Maintenance.

As a Manager, Aircraft Maintenance, you will be responsible for:

  • Coach and mentor a team of Aircraft Maintenance professionals
  • Be aware of and monitor all regulatory authorities responsible for the certification of aircraft and aircraft parts
  • Identify and develop appropriate strategic relationships with industry partners that are consistent with corporate objectives.
  • Ensure that all team members adhere to relevant SOP’s and approved maintenance data
  • Explore opportunities to reduce cost and ensure cost effective control of resources and facilities
  • Liaison with CASA as well as VA Regulatory Services, and VA Airline Publications.
  • CASA Part 145 Responsible Manager requirements for your region.

You’ll be great in this role if you have…

  • Formal qualifications in Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Cert IV or equivalent
  • Thorough understanding of the CASA airworthiness requirements.
  • Proven track record in Airworthiness and Engineering Operations operating in the aviation environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading/coaching mentoring team members
  • Experience in communicating effectively with all levels of an organisation
  • Exceptional problem solving skills coupled with the ability to prioritise multiple deadlines
  • Level 2 APAM drivers licence
