What you’ll be doing

The Data Analyst plays a role of 'Detective', working closely with Business Analysts, Architects and other stakeholders to define data requirements and deliverables to support project, business, and technology objectives. The Data Analyst contributes to the data platform's integrity by performing; data discovery, impact assessments, advocating and championing data literacy, data quality, data governance, the data strategy, and its benefits to the organisation. Your role is to make the 'invisible', 'visible', but using data and processes to support conversations.

  • Conduct data impact assessments for projects and small initiatives to safeguard and quantify benefits for data platforms & the business
  •  Work with delivery teams to champion good data governance
  •  Support Solution Architects, Business Analysts or other stakeholders with understanding required data activities
  • Prepare source to target mapping including identification of any data sensitivity that may be included in data activities
  • Data discovery and data impact assessments for new initiatives that involve data
  • Be a trusted contact of small initiatives and projects in relation to VA Data and Data Governance / Quality
  • Regular and effective communication and collaboration with business and technology stakeholders

You’ll be great in this role if you…

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology or related field 
  • Experience in analysing and documenting data requirements and processes
  • Knowledge of data acquisition and data warehousing
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience working on projects
  • Ability to define data related artefacts to be delivered and their benefits
  • Preparing data mapping documents and related process documents
  • Experience and confidence in liaising with stakeholders at all levels
  • Demonstrated experience in data quality and data governance practices
  • A proven ability to identify, build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to develop queries to analyse data (i.e. SQL)
