Hello. We’re Virgin Australia. And we’re back (in a big way).

We’re the airline that’s always done things a little different. Our way. The Virgin way. For us, flying is so much more than simply taking off and landing (although we understand that is quite important). It’s about going the extra mile, in the air and on the ground, to create authentic experiences that put our guests firmly at the heart of everything we do.

About the role:

As a Financial Analyst in the Operations Transformation team, you’ll be part of a central group supporting some of the most important change initiatives across the airline. The team focuses on finding smarter ways of working—helping to identify opportunities, deliver efficiencies, and lift operational performance. Your work will span financial and operational analysis, benefits identification, business case development, and performance tracking.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with a wide range of teams across Virgin – including Operations, Project Managers, subject matter experts like our Flight Crew, Operations Centre, Engineering, Cabin Crew, Planning teams and FP&A. Your focus will be on helping embed good practices around financial insights and benefit tracking, supporting the success of a fast-paced transformation program. Using advanced analytics and a performance mindset, you’ll help generate insights that inform strategic decision-making across the business. You'll have the opportunity to build a strong understanding of the passenger airline industry and its key drivers. We're also looking for someone who’s curious and proactive—ready to contribute ideas that support the airline’s financial performance.

In addition, you will:

  • Engage with Operations stakeholders to lead and support financial improvements and transformation initiatives.

  • Partner with project managers and subject matter experts to evaluate transformation initiatives and define clear benefit metrics.

  • Collaborate with Operations teams to support performance management, develop advanced analytics, and deliver actionable insights that drive change.

  • Assess and validate significant investment proposals for major operations programs.

  • Work with complex financial data sets to uncover trends, generate insights, and make impactful business recommendations.

  • Contribute to regular financial reporting on transformation progress, highlighting key insights and trends.

  • Monitor and report on realised benefits, clearly distinguishing between BAU and transformation outcomes.

  • Deliver ad hoc analysis and support as required, while fostering collaboration and ensuring consistent practices across the team.

You’ll be great in this role if you…

We welcome analysts from diverse backgrounds, including FP&A, modelling, business case development, data analysis, or operational reporting, coupled with a robust financial acumen.

  • 2+ years Finance experience (preferably finance partnering, FP&A or consulting) covering cost analysis, forecasting, optimisation, project benefits, financial reporting or management accounting

  • Tertiary qualifications in a highly analytical profession

  • Strong analytical and visualisation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to build trusting, effective on-going business relationships with diverse groups of people across the organisation

  • Strong data analysis skills with high attention to detail

  • Ability to interpret complex data, and draw, visualise and present recommendations to stakeholder groups

We’re committed to looking after you, with some of the best benefits and conditions in the industry – including (but not limited to):

  • Discounted flights for you and your loved ones (including $1000 worth of travel credits per year)

  • A flexible, hybrid work style. Work from home or the office, adapt your location to suit your style and needs

  • One of Brisbane’s most admired head office locations, with South Bank train station, a supermarket, pharmacy, and lunch options downstairs plus a 5-minute walk to the Busway, a rooftop restaurant and onsite gym (with a low membership fee) and South Bank Parklands just across the road
