Hello. We’re Virgin Australia. And we’re back (in a big way).

We’re the airline that’s always done things a little different. Our way. The Virgin way. For us, flying is so much more than simply taking off and landing (although we understand that is quite important). It’s about going the extra mile, in the air and on the ground, to create authentic experiences that put our guests firmly at the heart of everything we do.

What you’ll be doing:

As a Cabin Crew Roster Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating the production of cabin crew rosters, ensuring a balance between crew satisfaction, fairness, productivity targets, and operational needs. You will be required to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines while using analytical thinking to solve complex problems and adjust rosters as needed.

Your main focus will be to create rosters that fully comply with all relevant industrial, regulatory, and company policies while ensuring that they are published on time. A working knowledge of the Cabin Crew Enterprise Agreement is essential for this role to ensure that rosters meet contractual and operational standards.

In addition, you will be responsible for:

  • Prepare and plan crew pre-assignments, including training, leave, non-operational duties, and other requests.
  • Manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Establish roster requirements based on productivity targets, peak demand periods, and operational needs.
  • Regularly analyse resource allocation to ensure efficient and fair distribution of crew resources across operational commitments.
  • Maintain and adhere to checklists and procedures at all times, ensuring all required tasks are completed as outlined.
  • Allocate crew leave requests within specified timeframes and manage the leave process to ensure all eligible crew can submit requests.
  • Ensure compliance with all checklists and procedures, updating them as necessary to reflect changes in the process.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute recommendations for their implementation.
  • Have a working knowledge of the Cabin Crew Enterprise Agreement, ensuring compliance with all relevant industrial and contractual obligations when managing crew rostering and operational requirements.
  • Participate and provide input into regular meetings (Flight Operations, Cabin Crew Training Standards etc.)
  • Ensure all rosters are accurate and compliant. High attention to detail is an absolute must.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrated success in a similar Resource Planner, Training Planner or Rostering role.
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory rules to ensure strict compliance.
  • Ability to apply industrial rules and enterprise agreements, within a large organisation
  • Excellent communication skills with a variety of stakeholders across all levels
  • Experience with resource management systems i.e. Sabre Aircrews, Mint or Geneva; and MS Office in particular Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proven problem-solving skills, particularly within the context of a cost and efficiency-focused environment.
  • Adaptability in a dynamic and challenging environment.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, deadlines-focused environment.

We’re committed to looking after you, with some of the best benefits and conditions in the industry – including (but not limited to):

  • Discounted flights for you and your loved ones (including $1000 worth of travel credits per year)
  • A flexible, hybrid work style. Work from home or the office, adapt your location to suit your style and needs.
  • One of Brisbane’s most admired head office locations, with South Bank train station, a supermarket, pharmacy, and lunch options downstairs plus a 5-minute walk to the Busway, a rooftop restaurant and onsite gym (with a low membership fee) and South Bank Parklands just across the road
  • Discounts on travel insurance, lounge membership, car hire, accommodation, and experiences worldwide
  • Cheaper hospitality, retail, technology, beauty and wellness services
  • Free counselling and access to a wellbeing app to support your physical, mental, social and financial health.
  • ‘Dress for Your Day’ – enjoy the freedom to wear whatever makes you feel great for the type of work you do and the day you have ahead of you.
