A passionate result driven leader who knows how to build lasting stakeholder connections and who also thrives in building motivated high performance teams.  Commercially astute with a strategic mindset, you are data and analytics driven with the ability to communicate effectively in a range of mediums.  Coupled with this, you are passionate about customer insights and their contributions to decision making process.

What you’ll be doing:

This pivotal leadership role develops the network strategy, including capacity allocation and reviewing new route opportunities while providing strong visible leadership through coaching and mentoring the Network Strategy team.  You will also engage with the wider business to implement our capacity strategy to maximise returns across Virgin Australia fleet.

In this role you will;

  • Develop and implement an effective network strategy that fulfils both our short term and long-term strategic objectives
  • Effectively drive long term network planning, based on demand trends, competitive positioning as well as considering aircraft utilisation and customer insights
  • Manage the production of long term budget and reforecast schedules for ongoing business planning purposes and work with the fleet team on developing the longer term fleet plan
  • Develop business cases and present to senior leadership team recommended network changes, including analysis of new routes and identification of incremental earnings opportunities
  • Work closely with the Network Planning and Scheduling teams to implement the network strategy
  • Effectively manage alliance partner relationships to optimise joint network plans
  • Manage the analysis of competitor schedules and fleet and the development of recommendations for Virgin Australia’s response to changes
  • Manage key network transformation projects that will deliver incremental earnings benefit to Virgin Australia

 

You’ll be great in this role if you…

  • Hold a solid understanding of commercial and operational aspects of the airline industry
  • Previous experience in a Network Planning role within an airline
  • Have excellent analytical skills with the ability to synthesise large data sets and complex problems into actionable network outcomes
  • Possess strong leadership experience and proven ability to drive high performance teams
  • Have an ability to manage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and develop strong relationships across the organisation and up to senior management level
  • Experienced in working in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to multi-task and prioritise to meet deadlines
  • Holds tertiary qualification in Aviation, Business, Mathematics, Economics, or similar
  • Expert user in Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint (crucial to the role and tested throughout the recruitment process)
