What you will be doing:

At Virgin Australia Regional Airlines (VARA), we’re building a stronger future for regional aviation. As a key part of the Virgin Australia Group, VARA delivers essential regional, charter and FIFO aviation services across Western Australia.

We’re looking for an experienced strategic leader to join our Executive Leadership team to lead the development, prioritisation and execution of VARA’s strategic and transformation agenda. Working closely with senior leaders across the Virgin Australia Group, you will identify opportunities to improve performance, develop compelling business cases, establish investment priorities and oversee delivery of high value initiatives.

This is a unique opportunity combining strategic thinking with practical execution, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable business outcomes while supporting the broader strategic objectives.

Reporting directly to the Executive General Manager you will:

  • Develop and deliver VARA’s strategic direction, transformation roadmap and investment priorities
  • Lead high impact strategic initiatives and improve operational performance, customer outcomes and commercial results
  • Build robust business cases, financial analyst and executive recommendations to support strategic decision making
  • Drive enterprise transformation, continuous improvement and technology enabled change across the business
  • Establish effective governance, portfolio management and benefits realisation to ensure successful delivery
  • Partner with senior leaders across VARA and the Virgin Australia Group to align priorities and deliver cross functional outcomes
  • Prepare executive and Board level reporting, strategy papers and presentations
  • Champion a strong safety, risk and resilience culture throughout all transformation initiatives

You'll be great in this role if you have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Strategy, Finance, Economics, Aviation Management or a related discipline
  • Extensive experience leading strategy, transformation or operational improvement initiatives
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including business case development and investment analysis
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead cross functional teams
  • Excellent analytical, communication and executive presentation skills
  • Experience in governance, portfolio management and benefit s realisation
  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to build trusted relationships across the business
