What you’ll be doing:

As a Risk Specialist, you'll play a key role in partnering with the Group Risk Manager to bring the Virgin Australia Risk Management Framework to life i.e.driving its implementation, ensuring its evolution, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across the business.

You’ll be great in this role if you have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. business degree, Certified Practicing Risk Manager, etc.)
  • A proven track record in Enterprise Risk Management in a large corporate environment (minimum of 3 years)
  • Experience facilitating risk workshops across all levels of management and staff
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills
  • Effective time and task management abilities and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong attention to details
  • An analytical mindset with a proactive and practical approach to problem-solving
  • The ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and carry out a variety of duties through being flexible and adaptable to the Group’s needs
  • The ability to work autonomously
  • Sound knowledge of the AS/NZS ISO 31000 Risk Management Standard
  • Working knowledge and demonstrated experience in Enterprise Risk Management, risk analysis, and reporting
  • Familiarity with risk management software solutions
  • Understanding of risk appetite concepts and their practical application
  • Membership of a professional association and/or accreditation (e.g. RMIA) (desirable)
  • Prior experience or knowledge in the aviation or airline industry (desirable)
  • Experience in Program and Project Risk Management, operationalisation of Risk Appetite, and assessing risk culture (desirable)
  • Knowledge of significant legislation impacting the VA Group (desirable)
