What you’ll be doing…

Based at our Brisbane Hangar, you'll lead the Mechanical Systems & Cabin team, providing technical leadership to ensure the continuing airworthiness, configuration control and reliability of our fleet.

This is a strategic leadership role focused on driving innovation, continuous improvement and smarter ways of working. You'll identify opportunities to streamline processes, leverage technology and improve engineering outcomes across the function.

You'll oversee airworthiness assessments, engineering investigations, aircraft modification configuration control and engineering documentation, ensuring compliance with CASA regulations and Virgin Australia's engineering standards. You'll also develop and lead a high-performing team, building capability and fostering a culture of innovation and operational excellence.

You're an experienced aviation engineering leader who thinks strategically and is always looking for better ways of working. You're commercially aware, technically credible and enjoy leading and developing high-performing teams.

You're passionate about aviation and thrive in a collaborative environment where safety, precision and innovation are at the heart of everything you do. You bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills and enjoy tackling complex engineering challenges to deliver practical solutions.

To be considered for this role, you'll need:

  • One of the following qualifications:
  • Hold, or have held, an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence (B1, B2 or C), or equivalent; or
  • Certificate IV in Aircraft Maintenance; or
  • Diploma in Aviation Maintenance Management; or
  • Diploma (or higher) in Aeronautical, Avionics, Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • At least five years' relevant aviation engineering experience, including two years in a Technical Services or Engineering leadership role supporting transport category aircraft.
  • Strong knowledge of continuing airworthiness requirements, maintenance programs, aircraft systems and applicable CASA regulations.
  • Experience reviewing engineering documentation, including Service Bulletins and Instructions for Continuing Airworthiness (ICA).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including coaching and developing technical teams and building strong stakeholder relationships.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to challenge legacy processes and drive operational efficiencies.

The following would be highly regarded:

  • Experience with TRAX/eMRO Engineering Maintenance System
  • MSG-3 training or experience
