We’re looking for an Inflight Product Experience Lead – Cabin & IFEC to shape, develop and deliver the next generation of Virgin Australia’s inflight products and experiences.
Working across cabin products, inflight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC), onboard amenities and emerging inflight experiences, you’ll turn our inflight product strategy into tangible, commercially sound and operationally achievable products that enhance the passenger journey.
Reporting to the Product Manager – Inflight Experience, this is a hands-on product development role for someone with a strong understanding of aviation and experience taking physical products from concept through to implementation.
You’ll work across Product, Fleet, Procurement, Operations and Inflight, partnering with aircraft manufacturers, suppliers and commercial partners to develop and deliver products across our existing and future fleet.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll help shape and deliver Virgin Australia’s inflight product portfolio, with a particular focus on cabin products and IFEC.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Identifying opportunities for new and improved cabin products, inflight experiences, IFEC and onboard amenities based on passenger needs, market trends, operational opportunities and Virgin Australia’s product strategy.
- Leading product development from opportunity identification and concept development through to design, business case, sourcing, implementation, launch and continuous improvement.
- Developing practical product concepts that enhance passenger comfort, usability, functionality and the overall Virgin Australia experience.
- Working with suppliers, manufacturers, technology providers and commercial partners to develop, test and bring products to life.
- Supporting the development and implementation of cabin products across new aircraft, fleet programs and retrofit activities.
- Working closely with Fleet, Engineering, Operations, Inflight, Procurement and other stakeholders to ensure products are technically feasible, operationally practical and ready for frontline delivery.
- Developing business cases, commercial recommendations, product requirements and implementation plans for new products and enhancements.
- Supporting supplier selection, product trials, testing and performance management.
- Coordinating products through their lifecycle, from concept and testing through to implementation, review and optimisation.
- Using customer feedback, operational insights, market trends and product performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Supporting partnerships and complementary onboard propositions that enhance the overall inflight product.
- Ensuring product changes are effectively communicated, implemented and embedded across frontline and operational teams.
- Preparing product recommendations, insights and updates for senior stakeholders.
You’ll be great in this role if you have
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering physical products, services or passenger experiences, ideally within aviation, airlines, airports, travel or hospitality.
- Previous experience working in aviation or another complex operational environment, with a strong understanding of the passenger journey and frontline delivery.
- Experience taking products from concept through to design, development, supplier engagement, implementation and launch.
- Experience working with external suppliers, manufacturers, partners or commercial stakeholders to develop and deliver products.
- A strong understanding of how to translate customer and market insights into tangible products and experiences.
- Strong commercial acumen, including experience developing business cases, assessing investment opportunities and balancing customer value with commercial outcomes.
- Experience managing products across their lifecycle and driving continuous improvement after launch.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to bring together commercial, operational, technical and frontline teams to deliver outcomes.
- A practical, delivery-focused mindset and the ability to balance customer needs with operational, safety, cost and technical considerations.
- Strong planning, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
Experience that will be highly regarded
- Airline or aviation product development experience.
- Experience working across cabin interiors, cabin products, passenger amenities or inflight experience.
- Experience with IFEC, onboard connectivity or entertainment products.
- Experience supporting new aircraft deliveries, fleet programs, cabin refurbishments or retrofit programs.
- Experience managing aviation suppliers, manufacturers or technology partners.
- Experience developing or managing airline partnerships and complementary inflight propositions.
- Experience working within regulated or safety-critical environments.
