Operations Transformation Analyst

  • 510220
  • Brisbane, QLD, Australia
  • Full-Time (Permanent)
  • Closing on: Oct 30 2026

Hello. We’re Virgin Australia. We’re the airline that’s always done things a little different. Our way. The Virgin way. We’re on a mission to make flying better than ‘nice’. And to do that, it takes a team of talented people who are passionate about customer experience, doing the right thing always, with a focus on safety – in the air, on the ground and in our workplaces. A team who values real diversity and inclusion, in a big brand with big ambitions.

What you'll be doing:

As an Operations Transformation Analyst, you'll join a central team helping drive meaningful change across Virgin Australia's Operations business.

The team works across the airline to identify opportunities, improve efficiency and deliver sustainable improvements to operational and financial performance. You'll play a key role in understanding how the business operates, using data to identify opportunities, developing business cases and supporting initiatives through to delivery.

Based in Brisbane, you'll work closely with teams across Flight Operations, Airports, Engineering & Maintenance, Cabin Crew, the Operations Centre and Finance. You'll gain exposure to a broad range of operational challenges and help shape solutions that deliver measurable value.

We're looking for someone with strong analytical and financial skills, commercial curiosity and an interest in understanding how things work. You'll be comfortable working with complex data, challenging existing approaches and translating insights into practical recommendations.

This is an opportunity to develop a deep understanding of airline operations while contributing directly to some of the business's key transformation priorities.

In addition, you will:

  • Identify improvement opportunities: Work with operational teams to understand cost and performance drivers, identify inefficiencies and develop opportunities to improve the way we operate.
  • Develop business cases: Build financial models, assess costs and benefits, evaluate options and support investment decisions.
  • Analyse operational performance: Use financial and operational data to identify trends, understand performance drivers and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Support transformation delivery: Partner with operational stakeholders and project teams to develop initiatives, establish measurable outcomes and support implementation.
  • Track benefits and performance: Monitor initiative delivery, validate realised benefits and identify risks or opportunities to improve outcomes.
  • Deliver financial analysis and reporting: Support monthly transformation reporting, including performance against plan, variance analysis, forecasting and management insights.
  • Engage and influence stakeholders: Work across Operations and Finance to challenge assumptions, communicate findings and support informed decision-making.
  • Solve complex problems: Undertake ad hoc analysis and contribute to broader strategic and operational improvement projects.

You'll be great in this role if you…

We welcome candidates from a range of backgrounds, including Finance, FP&A, management consulting, business improvement, operational analytics and transformation. What matters most is your ability to work with data, understand commercial outcomes and turn analysis into action.

  • Have 2+ years' experience in an analytical role, ideally involving financial analysis, business improvement, consulting or operational performance.
  • Bring strong financial and commercial acumen, including the ability to analyse costs, build financial models and interpret financial performance.
  • Have strong analytical skills and experience working with complex datasets to identify trends, solve problems and develop recommendations.
  • Are highly proficient in Excel, with experience in data analysis and visualisation tools considered advantageous.
  • Can communicate complex findings clearly and concisely, including presenting insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Are curious, proactive and comfortable challenging existing ways of working to identify better solutions.
  • Can build effective relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders across different functions and levels of the organisation.
  • Are comfortable balancing recurring reporting responsibilities with project-based analysis and improvement initiatives.
  • Hold tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Engineering, Business, Data Analytics or another relevant analytical discipline.
  • Are based in Brisbane.

We’re committed to looking after you, with some of the best benefits and conditions in the industry – including (but not limited to):

  • Discounted flights for you and your loved ones (including $1000 worth of travel credits per year)
  • A flexible, hybrid work style (3 days in office)
  • One of Brisbane’s most admired head office locations, with South Bank train station, a supermarket, pharmacy, and lunch options downstairs plus a 5-minute walk to the Busway, a rooftop restaurant and onsite gym (with a low membership fee) and South Bank Parklands just across the road
  • Discounts on travel insurance, lounge membership, car hire, accommodation, and experiences worldwide
  • Cheaper hospitality, retail, technology, beauty and wellness services
  • Free counselling and access to a wellbeing app to support your physical, mental, social and financial health
  • ‘Dress for Your Day’ – enjoy the freedom to wear whatever makes you feel great for the type of work you do and the day you have ahead of you.
