What you will be doing:
Virgin Australia Regional Airlines (VARA) operates from Perth Airport with a modern fleet of Embraer E190-E2 Aircraft, providing critical charter services throughout regional Western Australia. As a key partner to Australia's mining and resources sector, VARA is experiencing significant growth, making this an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of our business.
We’re looking for a Commercial Performance Analyst to join our VARA Commercial team in Perth and play a key role in supporting the financial and commercial performance of our charter business.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded analyst who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems and turning data into insights that influence real business decisions.
A key part of the role will be using data to uncover trends, opportunities and risks, while improving the way information is prepared, reported and used across the business.
Reporting directly to the Leader Charter Pricing and Analysis you will:
- Prepare accurate and timely client invoicing across VARA charter clients and VAA RPT block clients, along with month end accruals, reconciliations and variance analysis
- Build and maintain robust financial and commercial models to support pricing, forecasting, scenario analysis, profitability assessments and business cases
- Analyse revenue, cost, margin and operational drivers to understand performance and identify trends, risks and opportunities
- Support pricing decisions and the evaluation of new and existing charter opportunities
- Transform complex financial, operational and commercial data into clear insights and recommendations for decision-makers
- Identify opportunities to automate and improve reporting, data quality and existing processes using Excel, Power Query, Power BI, SQL and Python where appropriate
- Work collaboratively with finance, commercial, operational and B2B stakeholders, as well as external clients, to resolve queries and improve commercial performance
You'll be great in this role if you have:
- Tertiary qualifications in finance, business, data analytics or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience across financial reporting, month-end close, accruals, reconciliations and management reporting
- Demonstrated experience analysing complex financial, commercial or operational datasets and producing meaningful insights
- Strong commercial modelling experience, particularly using Excel for forecasting, pricing, scenario analysis, profitability or business cases
- Advanced Excel and Power Query capability
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn complex information into clear commercial recommendations
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working with a broad range of stakeholders across finance, commercial, operations and B2B environments
