Accounts Payable Consultant

- Brisbane, QLD, Australia
- Max Term
Hello. We’re Virgin Australia. We’re the airline that’s always done things a little different. Our way. The Virgin way. We’re on a mission to make flying better than ‘nice’. And to do that, it takes a team of talented people who are passionate about customer experience, doing the right thing always, with a focus on safety – in the air, on the ground and in our workplaces. A team who values real diversity and inclusion, in a big brand with big ambitions.
What you’ll be doing:
You’ll play a key role in ensuring our suppliers are paid accurately and on time, while championing strong source-to-pay governance across the Group. From reviewing and processing supplier invoices to scheduling payments, managing expenses and resolving escalated queries, you’ll support the full accounts payable cycle to keep our operations running smoothly and efficiently.
This is a dynamic role where priorities can shift with transaction volumes and business needs. You’ll partner closely with our offshore team, bringing a solid understanding of end-to-end AP processes, sharp attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset. With multiple deliverables on the go, your ability to communicate clearly, stay organised and navigate how the Virgin Australia Group operates will set you up for success.
This is a 6 month maximum term opportunity.
You’ll be great in this role if you:
- Bring at least two years’ experience in a high-volume accounts payable or finance role, with a solid understanding of financial accounting practices
- Have hands-on experience with large ERP systems (such as Oracle) and strong Excel skills, backed by high overall computer literacy
- Thrive in fast-paced environments, confidently juggling multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines
- Are a natural problem solver who thinks analytically, works logically and has exceptional attention to detail
- Deliver outstanding customer service and build positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders
- Communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally, and enjoy working collaboratively within a team
- Have experience with query management systems, OCR or IDR tools, supporting project delivery or supporting User Acceptance Testing for system changes
- Bring strong source-to-pay knowledge, including exposure to multi-currency payments and expense management (aviation experience will be highly regarded)
We’re committed to looking after you, with some of the best benefits and conditions in the industry – including (but not limited to):
- Discounted flights for you and your loved ones (including $1000 worth of travel credits per year)
- A flexible, hybrid work style. Work from home or the office, adapt your location to suit your style and needs
- One of Brisbane’s most admired head office locations, with South Bank train station, a supermarket, pharmacy, and lunch options downstairs plus a 5-minute walk to the Busway, a rooftop restaurant and onsite gym (with a low membership fee) and South Bank Parklands just across the road
- Discounts on travel insurance, lounge membership, car hire, accommodation, and experiences worldwide
- Cheaper hospitality, retail, technology, beauty and wellness services
- Free counselling and access to a wellbeing app to support your physical, mental, social and financial health
- ‘Dress for Your Day’ – enjoy the freedom to wear whatever makes you feel great for the type of work you do and the day you have ahead of you.
