Senior Manager, Internal Auditor

What you’ll be doing:

As our Senior Manager, Internal Audit, you’ll play a critical role in helping the Virgin Australia Group achieve its strategic objectives by delivering high-quality assurance and advisory services. You'll take a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluating and enhancing the effectiveness of our risk management, internal controls, and governance frameworks—ensuring we continue to operate with integrity, transparency, and resilience.

 

In addition you will:

  • Own and enhance the Internal Audit methodology and reporting framework to ensure consistent quality across all engagements.
  • Formulate and maintain a robust Audit Universe and assurance map, detailing assurance providers and coverage across the Group.
  • Lead the successful execution of the annual audit plan, fostering high performance, career growth, and development within the Internal Audit team.
  • Manage the planning, fieldwork, and delivery of audit engagements, ensuring alignment with internal methodology and timelines.
  • Foster strong working relationships across all levels of the business to promote a culture of sound governance and risk management.
  • Provide advisory services and special assignments that enhance efficiency, improve revenue, and reduce costs, whilst promoting and influencing the adoption of best practice control and governance.
  • Oversee the preparation of high-quality reporting inputs for the Audit & Risk Management Committee, Executive Leadership Team, and Board as required.

 

You will be great for the role if you:

  • A relevant degree and/or professional qualifications in audit and control, such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Practising Accountant (CPA); .
  • Proven experience in senior internal audit leadership roles within dynamic and fast-paced environments.
  • Experience interfacing effectively and regularly with executive leadership/C-suite, and/or board of directors
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to assess significant revenue and cost streams, identify trends, and propose actionable insights.
  • Knowledge of significant legislation impacting the VA Group (desirable)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, and Access
