About the role
As the Manager, Training Academy, you will lead the planning, design, and delivery of learning initiatives that drive capability, competence, and compliance across all areas within the Training Academy. Reporting to the Head of Training & Standards – Flight Standards, you will develop and execute a strategic learning framework to ensure high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective training solutions that align with business objectives.
In this role, you will be responsible for shaping the future of operations-related training, ensuring our teams are equipped with the skills and knowledge to excel.
Further responsibilities include:
- Learning Design – Lead the design and development of training programs, ensuring competency-based learning, standardised course materials, and alignment with adult learning principles.
- Training Delivery – Oversee the effective delivery of training programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory and operational standards while optimising trainer resources.
- Training Standardisation – Implement professional development initiatives, monitor trainer performance, and maintain high-quality training outcomes.
- Operational Planning – Work with Workforce Planning to develop training schedules that align with operational needs and resource availability.
- Continuous Improvement – Drive transformation initiatives, optimise training delivery, and implement innovative learning solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Financial & Resource Management – Ensure training programs are delivered within budget, meet key financial KPIs, and align with business objectives.
- Leadership & Team Development – Build team capability, provide coaching and feedback, foster a customer-focused mindset, and ensure compliance with training and operational standards.
- Safety & Compliance – Ensure adherence to safety, security, and resilience programs, complete mandatory training, participate in WHS consultations, and promote a culture of safety.
Who we’re looking for:
- Tertiary qualification in Aviation, Training, or a relevant management discipline.
- Extensive experience in the aviation industry, specifically in training and education, compliance, and operational management.
- Proven background in learning management systems, competency-based training design, and adult learning principles.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a complex, highly regulated operational environment.
- Strong understanding of aviation safety management systems (SMS) and risk management frameworks.
Desirable Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of CASA Advisory Circular AC 119-12 and Australian aviation regulations.
- Understanding of Ground Operations policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience in business analytics to drive training efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ability to interpret complex regulatory information and translate it into practical training solutions.
