Senior Manager, People Communications

What you’ll be doing

Due to an internal promotion, we have this exciting, Brisbane based Senior Manager, People Communications available. This role will ensure the development and implementation of a communications strategy to drive employee advocacy and engagement, and promote and protect the company’s reputation.

Further responsibilities include:

  • Work with the Head of People Communications and Reputation to deliver engaging and timely communications to drive employee advocacy and engagement, and promote and protect the company’s reputation.
  • Plan, deliver and assess internal communication campaigns and strategies across Virgin Australia’s operational and frontline divisions to build the reputation of the airline within these workgroups.
  • Influence and advise senior leaders across Virgin Australia’s operational divisions in support of internal communications campaigns and initiatives.
  • Track and analyse communications engagement data to inform impactful strategies.
  • Help our operational teams and leaders understand how to communicate effectively via our channels, while also keeping up with industry trends and exploring new ways to engage our people and improve our communication infrastructure.
  • Shared responsibility for 24/7 media line, including being rostered for “on call” duties.
  • Crisis Communications – assist with company response in the event of a crisis or emergency.

You’ll be great in this role if you have…

  • 10 years’ experience in Communications, with strong experience in a senior internal communications role
  • Strong experience working within a large, complex consumer facing organisation
  • A strategic thinker and effective influencer, with proven ability to interact with senior leaders and engage well in high-level business focused discussions and decisions
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing communications for complex employee groups
  • Experience with Crisis Management within a regulated and complex operating environment
  • C-Suite Communications strategy development
  • A self starter who can work through ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable embracing transformational change.
