What you’ll be doing:
Are you ready to help drive strategic value through high-impact airline partnerships? We are looking for a dynamic Partnership Specialist to join our team and play a key role in maximizing value creation across Virgin Australia’s portfolio of airline partners. In this role, you will cultivate and manage strong relationships with assigned airline partners, driving value creation through codeshare, interline, and loyalty program collaborations. You will also develop and execute strategic initiatives that ensure mutual benefits for Virgin Australia, Velocity Frequent Flyer, and our airline partners. A key part of the role involves collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure that processes across Virgin Australia and Velocity Frequent Flyer effectively support our airline partnerships, enhancing partner collaboration and improving customer journeys and member experiences. Additionally, you will support onboarding of new partners and ad hoc projects, contributing to continuous innovation and growth within the organization.
You’ll be great in this role if you have:
- A relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a commercial or operational role within the airline industry.
- Proven ability to manage airline commercial performance and develop strategies to improve key metrics like revenue, market share, yield, and customer experience.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including working across cultures.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- In-depth understanding of airline passenger processes, including distribution, commercial strategies, and service delivery.
- Solid knowledge of airline performance metrics and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with IATA passenger standards (reservations, ticketing, interline billing, baggage, scheduling) and multilateral agreements (MPA-P, MITA).
Desirable but not essential:
- Industry qualifications in IATA passenger standards (e.g., fares, ticketing, proration).
- Experience managing airline partnership agreements across commercial, financial, and customer service areas.
- Analysing airline financial performance, including P&L, and experience with financial planning.
- Experience managing commercial performance in international markets, especially in/outbound Australia.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial modelling and Power BI for scorecard reporting.
- Project management and data analysis expertise.Knowledge of airline systems (PSS, GDS) and processes (reservations, ticketing, check-in).
- Familiarity with airline industry data sources like IATA DDS and Diio Mi.
