Inventory Planning & Supply Performance Leader

Hello. We’re Virgin Australia. We’re the airline that’s always done things a little different. Our way. The Virgin way. We’re on a mission to make flying better than ‘nice’. And to do that, it takes a team of talented people who are passionate about customer experience, doing the right thing always, with a focus on safety – in the air, on the ground and in our workplaces. A team who values real diversity

Exciting opportunity! We are on the lookout for an Inventory Planning & Supply Performance Leader to join our team at our Brisbane Hangar. This role is available as a 12-month contract.

In this role, you will be tasked with ensuring that our airline's aeronautical product (material) requirements are carefully planned to optimize fleet performance and reduce maintenance delays caused by spare part availability. Additionally, you will ensure adherence to all regulatory and procedural standards while striving to manage costs effectively.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Oversee and coordinate the CAMO’s materials needs, including material stocktaking and supply chain performance reporting. Ensure all team members complete mandatory training in Safety, Security, Resilience, and Health and Wellbeing.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of aeronautical products to develop and maintain inventory plans across multiple asset classes (Rotable, Repairable, Expendable, and Consumable)
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design, implement, and document demand planning and inventory performance processes.
  • Lead material activities related to port or maintenance ramp-ups and downs, and review, pilot, and formalize cyclic counting activities for ports or 3PL providers
  • Monitor notifications of suspected unapproved parts and take corrective action until issues are resolved; identify and address obsolescence and associated costs
  • Analyze and troubleshoot demand-related issues in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner; provide subject matter expertise in procurement activities
  • Ensure compliance with Virgin Australia’s Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition, Engineering Business Procedures, and relevant Work Instructions
  • Report all significant events with safety, quality, or compliance implications, and manage associated risks and issues effectively.
  • Identify and leverage opportunities to enhance material availability, improve supply chain efficiencies, and drive system and process improvements in safety, compliance, cost, and performance

You’ll be great in this role if you:

  • Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or equivalent relevant experience within the Engineering and Maintenance industry
  • At least 10 years of experience in Supply Chain or Logistics within a large airline or complex Engineering and Maintenance organization
  • Extensive experience in strategic inventory analysis, planning, and management
  • Proficiency with airline Engineering and Maintenance systems (EMS) and advanced skills in Microsoft Office Access and Excel.
  • Previous experience in ERP Systems is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with reporting tools such as Power BI or Cognos
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence team members to achieve desired outcomes
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment and work effectively both collaboratively and independently
  • Working knowledge of maintenance systems, regulations related to aircraft maintenance, aircraft records, and airline supply chains.
  • Experience with budgeting and financial systems, and knowledge of Safety Management Systems
