As a People Safety Specialist, you will be supporting the organisation’s operational streams in driving People Safety continuous improvement initiatives across Work Health Safety (WHS), Workers Compensation and Workplace Wellbeing. The ideal candidate for this position will possess experience in WHS and Workplace Wellbeing related functions.

The purpose of the role is to support the Virgin Australia Work Health and Safety Management System and Workplace Wellbeing program, ensuring best practise prevention is being applied, safety and workplace wellbeing outcomes are achieved, and effective processes are in place to ensure legislative compliance.

  • Research and analyze WHS legislation, emerging trends, and best practices to assess impacts and opportunities for Virgin Australia.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to frontline leaders, supporting cultural change and embedding a proactive safety mindset.
  • Develop and deliver effective communication strategies to drive WHS and workplace wellbeing initiatives.
  • Provide insightful analysis and reporting to support decision-making and compliance.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for internal and external safety risk reviews.
  •  Support the ongoing development and implementation of the WHS Management System.
  • Assist Business Partners with WHS investigations and ensure accurate injury and incident reporting.
  • Oversee non-conformance findings from assurance activities and collaborate with key stakeholders to drive improvements.

You’ll be great in this role if you have…

  • Have a Tertiary Qualification in WHS or a related discipline
  • Come with a minimum 2 years experience in Work Health Safety and/or Workplace Wellbeing (preferably) within Aviation, resource or energy sectors
  • Have minimum 2 years experience implementing systems and risk management programs within industry.
  • Possess high levels of experience analysing and reporting to multiple stakeholders on safety performance metrics and trends
  • Have knowledge of State and Territory WHS legislative requirements (demonstrated ability to interpret to produce operational solutions)
  • Have experience in the rollout of people safety programs and initiatives across WHS and Workplace Wellbeing.
  • Are proficient in MS office suite of programmes and advance user of Intelex and Power Bi.
