Recently awarded “Best Regional Airline” in Australia VARA predominantly conduct charter services throughout regional Western Australia! VARA is on a growth path, with the recent announcement of the procurement of eight Embraer E190-E2 aircraft. The future is exciting!

What you’ll be doing

As the Charter Airport Coordinator you will be responsible for offering expert guidance and support in managing the daily operations and oversight of key regional charter airports for VARA. This includes assisting with training development, ensuring continuing compliance, overseeing GSE procurement and maintenance, and developing action plans in response to safety incidents and audits. The role also involves analysing business practices and processes to drive continuous improvements in safety and operational performance across the portfolio.

This is a 12 Month Max term contract based in our CBD offices in Perth.

This will include…..

Safety, Security, and Business Resilience

    • Develop and execute action plans addressing safety incidents, audits, or events.
    • Support and implement operational policies ensuring safe airport operations.
    • Provide safety-related updates and actions to forums and leadership.
    • Ensure compliance, emergency preparedness, and performance monitoring.
    • Act as part of the Operations Delivery Crisis Management Team.

Operational Excellence

    • Serve as the operational point of contact for assigned airports.
    • Analyze performance indicators, implement improvements, and ensure resilience.
    • Support Ground Support Equipment (GSE) procurement and upkeep.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to introduce new policies and manage disruptions.

Customer Advocacy

    • Champion the interests of stakeholders and facilitate outcomes to support all stakeholders
    • Work closely with key customer contacts, providing valuable insight and support to their airports, an achieve internal performance targets
    • Act as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders
  1. Financial Accountability
    • Identify and drive service and resource optimization opportunities.
    • Review ground handling charges and airport performance against KPIs.

You’ll be great in this role if you have…

  • A strong understanding of and demonstrated experience of working in airport operational environments
  • Minimum Year 12 education (Tertiary qualification or Safety qualifications desirable)
  • An ability to remain calm and decisive in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in the management of safety and safety related events in an airport environment
  • Effective multitasking and handling of conflicting priorities
  • Knowledge of VARA or an understanding of the Western Australian airline operations would be beneficial
