The role:
Reporting to the SME Sales Manager, the Team Leader SME Sales & Business Development will create and lead a team of five Business Development Consultants, focusing on growing market share within the SME segment. Based in Sydney, this role is pivotal in driving airline revenue growth through strategic business development, strengthening customer relationships, and ensuring the team is set up for success.
You will be responsible for building, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team, fostering a positive, supportive, and results-driven culture. Additionally, you will oversee the execution of strategic initiatives, commercial decision-making, and process improvements to maximise revenue and deliver exceptional client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, lead, and develop a team of five Business Development Consultants, ensuring they exceed sales targets and drive significant revenue and market share growth.
- Cultivate a high-performing, customer-focused sales team that enhances Virgin Australia’s SME client experience.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute strategic business development plans.
- Oversee the seamless onboarding of new SME clients, ensuring a smooth transition and long-term success.
- Develop strategic partnerships with Travel Management Companies (TMCs) and integrate them into the SME sales strategy.
- Drive client retention and expansion through tailored account strategies and relationship management.
- Represent Virgin Australia at industry events, strengthening brand presence and client relationships.
What you need to be successful:
- Adaptive mindset and ability to drive out a meaningful pathway for internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in a Sales Management or Client Services Management role.
- Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth in a senior sales role.
- Extensive experience in leading and managing high-performing sales teams.
- Proficient in building and maintaining relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
- Strong background in developing and executing strategic sales plans.
- Expertise in identifying and capitalising on new business opportunities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with demonstrated experience to assess complex business challenges and develop solutions that drive value
- Strong understanding of market trends, industry dynamics, and competitive landscapes.
- Ability to effectively coaching, mentoring, and developing sales talent.
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
