Hello. We’re Virgin Australia. And we’re back (in a big way)

We’re the airline that’s always done things a little differently. Our way. The Virgin way. For us, flying is so much more than simply taking off and landing (although we understand that is quite important). It’s about going the extra mile, in the air and on the ground, to create authentic experiences that put our guests firmly at the heart of everything we do.

About the role:

Based out of the Virgin Australia HQ in South Brisbane, the Strategy and Insights Specialist will play a pivotal role in developing and championing data-driven insights across Virgin Australia by assisting the Airline Partnerships team in maximizing value creation across all activities.

Furthermore, you will support the Airline Partnerships Team and other internal stakeholders with analysis and insights to ensure that team activities are positioned to maximize value creation; budgeting and forecasting activities; and the identification and assessment of new partnership opportunities.

In addition, you will:

  • Diagnose trends and analyse insights, working with Airline Partnership Specialists to convert insights into actions.
  • Manage reporting and dashboards across airline partnerships, building and maintaining reports. Maintain close relationships with internal teams managing enterprise-level data sets and reporting infrastructure.
  • Assist in preparing business cases to support recommendations to proceed with new alliance partners. Develop presentations for senior leadership teams as required.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and simplify data-driven tasks across the team.
  • Carry out market and competitor analysis to identify trends and provide recommendations for future business activity.
  • Perform regular data validation activities as required including partner airline billing file reconciliation to support revenue integrity.

What we're looking for:

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline (such as economics, management, mathematics, or a commercial discipline).
  • Knowledge of financial planning and analysis concepts (such as preparation of profit and loss statements balance sheets; and basic financial ratios).
  • Experience in strategy or insight’s function, or a role involving quantitative analysis.
  • Data analysis skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerBI.
  • Experience building reports and dashboards to be used in commercial optimisation functions.
  • Experience working with complex and multi-source data sets.

What you’ll get from us:

We’re committed to looking after you, with some of the best benefits and conditions in the industry – including (but not limited to);

  • Heavily discounted air travel for you and your loved ones (including $1000 worth of travel credits per year).
  • Flexible working arrangements (including work hours and work from home).
