For us, flying is so much more than simply taking off and landing (although we understand that is quite important). It’s about going the extra mile, in the air and on the ground, to create authentic experiences that put our guests firmly at the heart of everything we do.

About Virgin Australia Regional Airlines (VARA)

VARA operates out of Perth Airport and has a fleet of F100 and A320 aircraft that predominantly conduct charter operations throughout regional Western Australia. We are currently on a growth path and will soon be introducing the new E-jet aircraft into our fleet. This will enable us to continue to maintain a strong focus on supporting our major clients in the mining industry - the future is exciting!

The objective of the Fleet Standards Manager role is to support the Head of Training and Standards (HOTS) in overseeing the training and standards organisation for Virgin Australia Regional Airline (VARA).

The key responsibilities for this role include developing and delivering flight crew entry control and recurrent assessment programs, while ensuring ongoing quality assurance standards are met. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing the training and continuous standardization of flight crew checking staff, as well as maintaining the quality assurance of flight crew check programs.

You’ll be great in this role if you:

  • A Flight Examiner Rating with IR endorsement on company type
  • A minimum of 1000 hours flight time in operations on a type substantially similar to those operated by VARA

  • A high level of operational performance
  • An operational training background ideally with experience in the jet transport airline operations
  • Experience in the training and testing of Type Ratings for jet transport aircraft would be highly regarded
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with a team of experienced training and checking staff
  • Demonstrated leadership capability to influence and drive positive outcomes with a diverse and remote workforce.
  • A detailed understanding of the Virgin Australia Group checking and training principles would be advantageous
  • A thorough understanding of enterprise agreements along with a strong knowledge of CASA Regulations.
