Compliance and Risk Specialist - Engineering

The objective of the Compliance and Risk Specialist – Engineering position is to support the safety and compliance functions of the Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO). This role provides expert regulatory advice, facilitates risk assessments, and coordinates external audits to ensure CAMO operations meet applicable aviation regulations and internal standards. This position is instrumental in analysing safety data and driving continuous improvement in CAMO safety and quality processes.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing ongoing support in delivery of safety management functions including management of change, risk and safety governance.
  • Maintain the CAMO Approved Persons Register and maintain the records system for approvals issued
  • Manage the issue and renewal of all CAMO quality authorisations
  • Assess CAMO CASR Part 42.G authorisations (ARE, MPAE, Pilot Maintenance)
  • Assess AMO CASR Part 145 authorisations (LAME, AME, Specialist Maintenance)
  • Prepare reports for the Engineering and Maintenance, Management Safey and Risk Review Committee
  • Develop and continuously improve processes within the CAMO Quality and Safety team.
  • Coordinate CASA application for amendments to the Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition and the Engineering Manual Suite
  • Coordinate external audits of the CAMO and facilitate risk assessments across the CAMO.
  • Reviewing, processing and following up on safety events assigned to the Engineering department
  • Monitor the implementation of corrective and preventative actions to ensure ongoing compliance

You’ll be great in this role if you…

  • A strong regulatory knowledge and understanding of CASA Part 42
  • Experience in compliance, audit, or risk management within an aviation or engineering environment would be desirable but not mandatory
  • Proven ability to facilitate workshops and lead risk assessments
  • Proven capability in developing and improving quality and safety processes
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Lead Auditor qualification would be highly regarded
  • Technical writing skills for preparing clear, concise, and accurate reports, procedures, and guidance materials.
  • Qualifications in engineering, aviation safety, or a related discipline
