What you’ll be doing:

As a Senior Financial Accountant at Velocity, you’ll be at the heart of keeping our financial engine running smoothly. You’ll take ownership of month end close activities and support the delivery of annual financial statements, ensuring everything is accurate, timely and ready for take off. Partnering with teams across the business, you’ll provide clear, insightful analysis and commentary that helps guide smart, confident decision making.

Beyond the numbers, you’ll help us continuously evolve how we work through leading process improvements and jumping into adhoc projects as we grow. You’ll play a key role in designing and strengthening financial controls, policies and processes that keep us on course. Reporting to the Leader, Financial Accounting and supported by a Financial Accountant, you’ll be part of a team that values collaboration, precision and forward momentum.

You’ll be great in this role if you:

• Hold a Bachelor of Commerce (or equivalent) and are CA or CPA qualified
• Bring at least 5 years post qualification experience, with a strong background in preparing or auditing statutory financial statements
• Have solid technical accounting knowledge and a strong understanding of IFRS
• Thrive in fast paced environments, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines
• Can communicate complex technical accounting concepts clearly and confidently to a range of stakeholders
• Deliver accurate, high-quality financial analysis and reporting
• Are proactive, solutions focused and enjoy identifying and implementing process improvements
• Build strong relationships across teams and provide high quality support, advice and service to diverse stakeholders
• Have strong systems capability and are highly proficient with financial tools and technology

It’s a bonus if you also have:

• Experience in a Big 4 firm at Manager level (or similar)
• Exposure to consolidations and intercompany accounting, including foreign currencies
• Experience in an ASX-listed environment or within aviation
• Familiarity with Oracle ERP systems and complex reconciliations
