What you'll be doing

As the Program Manager you will lead the delivery of Virgin Australia's Information Security Program, coordinating the execution of strategic cybersecurity initiatives that strengthen the organisation's security posture, resilience, compliance, and risk management capabilities.

You will be responsible for managing a program of complex security projects, ranging from regulatory and compliance initiatives to security technology implementations, identity and access management, cloud security, cyber resilience, vulnerability management and frontier AI response. Success in this role requires strong delivery leadership, stakeholder management, and the ability to navigate complex business and technology environments.

Further responsibilities include:

  • Using Portfolio Delivery governance frameworks, manage planning and delivery phases through to closure and transition to operational teams.
  • Establish, lead and manage the planning and delivery of Information Security projects within agreed frameworks, including scoping, scheduling, budgeting, governance, risk management and benefits realisation.
  • Partner closely with Information Security, Technology, Risk, Legal, and business stakeholders to ensure security initiatives align with organisational objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage interdependencies across multiple projects and workstreams while balancing competing priorities to achieve program outcomes.
  • Support the delivery of cybersecurity initiatives including security uplift projects, regulatory compliance activities, cyber resilience capabilities, security tooling implementations and risk remediation programs.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to the program director, senior leadership, program sponsors and governance forums regarding program progress, risks, issues and outcomes.
  • Build and maintain accountable, high-performing and engaged project teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor Project Managers and Delivery Leads across the Information Security Program.
  • Plan and manage the Program budget across assigned security projects, ensuring effective investment and value delivery.

You'll be great in this role if you…

  • Have extensive experience delivering large-scale technology programs or cyber security programs, with recent experience leading cyber security initiatives.
  • Have demonstrated experience managing complex Information Security, Cyber Security, or Technology Risk Transformation programs.
  • Possess strong leadership experience, including leading multidisciplinary teams and influencing outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Have experience delivering projects involving security technologies, cyber risk management, regulatory compliance, identity and access management, cloud security, security operations or, vulnerability management resilience capabilities.
  • Can work effectively across all levels of the organisation and translate technical security concepts into meaningful business outcomes.
  • Have experience managing significant program budgets, vendor and partner relationships.
  • Demonstrate strong governance, risk and issue management capabilities within highly regulated environments.
  • Have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the credibility to engage executives, technical teams and business stakeholders alike.
  • Are highly skilled in stakeholder management, negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Thrive in fast-paced environments with changing priorities and evolving business needs.
  • Hold relevant industry certifications such as PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2, MSP, CISSP, CISM or equivalent (desirable).
