Why this role matters

Our distribution environment is complex, with fare products, ticketing rules, pricing distribution, systems, channels, vendors, policies and regulatory requirements all needing to work together. This role helps make sure they do.

You’ll help Virgin Australia deliver a distribution strategy that is commercially effective, operationally practical and compliant, while continuously improving the processes and controls that support it.

The position description specifically positions the role around governance and continuous improvement, including monitoring industry and regulatory changes, supporting audit and remediation, embedding policy through system and process design, and working across stakeholders to improve distribution outcomes. 

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for experience in an airline or travel commercial environment, with strong knowledge of fares, ticketing, pricing distribution and experience supporting change, process improvement or governance. Experience with ATPCO, Sabre or similar airline distribution environments will be highly regarded.

Strong knowledge of IATA fares and ticketing, ATPCO fare and rule principles, airline distribution architecture and PSS/GDS environments will be valuable.

The person we’re looking for

You could be an experienced fares and ticketing specialist ready to broaden your impact, a distribution specialist who loves solving complex problems, or someone with strong airline commercial experience who wants to combine technical expertise, compliance and business improvement.

What matters most is that you are curious, proactive, commercially aware and passionate about fares, ticketing & pricing distribution— and you enjoy bringing people together to make change happen.

You understand that distribution is not simply about getting products into market. It is about doing so accurately, consistently and in line with our regulatory and industry obligations. You are comfortable identifying risk, challenging outcomes and helping put the right controls in place.

Love improving things.

You instinctively look for opportunities to simplify, automate, improve controls and reduce manual effort. You can move from identifying a problem to helping design, implement and embed the solution.

Can influence across the organisation.

You’ll need to bring together stakeholders with different priorities and perspectives. You can build strong relationships, communicate complex concepts simply and keep people focused on the outcome.

Can make change happen.

You’re not someone who is satisfied with identifying an issue and documenting it. You enjoy working with stakeholders to move from problem to solution to implementation to sustainable change.
