What you’ll be doing
The Commercial Strategy and Performance Analyst (internally known as Commercial Performance Analyst) role provides data-driven commercial analytics support to identify opportunities for incremental revenue and market share growth, as well as supporting the continuous refinement of commercial strategy and how Virgin achieves our overarching revenue ambition.
This includes developing management level performance tracking to generate ongoing insights and providing proactive support to the Head of and General Manager in preparation for C-suite/Board updates. This role also plays a direct role to support more complex and advance modelling for special projects within the Commercial Division, particularly in the Sales function.
Further responsibilities include:
- Use tools including Microsoft Excel to proactively interrogate and analyse data to understand drivers of performance and identify trends, gaps and opportunities that help the company drive incremental revenue
- Transform robust analysis into actionable insights and clear recommendations that improves decision making and consequently drives business performance.
- Support the commercial leadership team to identify and scope commercial opportunities in the Sales function including the sizing of commercial benefits and investments
- Work closely with the Sales team to execute and monitor identified commercial opportunities
- Produce and enhance reporting that addresses performance and key risk areas, providing clearly articulated insights and actions to be taken to address findings; automate to greatest degree possible
- Promote a data lead culture through the use of data and analytical decision making across the Commercial Division
- Provide support within various projects, identify, and manage any risks within these projects.
You’ll be great in this role if you…
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (Business, Economics, Finance, etc.)
- A background in Management Consulting or a similar commercial/analytical role (1-3 years)
- Have a strong curiosity driver and enjoy breaking down and solving complex problems
- Advanced Excel skills (you have built models before). Power BI skills are advantageous but not essential
- Experience in translating business questions into analysis to prove/disprove hypothesis
- Extensive experience interrogating and analysing large bodies of data to generate actionable insights.
- Experience operating with ambiguity in pursuit of an overall objective
- Ability to use data insights to generate easily interpreted, impactful Microsoft PowerPoint presentations
- Ability to build and develop strong working relationships with internal stakeholders.
- High level of attention to detail and written/oral communication skills.
