Hello. We’re Virgin Australia. And we’re back (in a big way).

We’re the airline that’s always done things a little different. Our way. The Virgin way. For us, flying is so much more than simply taking off and landing (although we understand that is quite important). It’s about going the extra mile, in the air and on the ground, to create authentic experiences that put our guests firmly at the heart of everything we do.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Load Control Manager to join our leadership team in the Integrated Operations Centre. In this position, you will lead a compliant, resource-enabled, cohesive, high-performing team, integral in delivering safe, on-time, and efficient load planning operations.

Load Control is the management and optimisation of all items being loaded onto an aircraft in line with the company’s Weight and Balance policy.  The Load Control team’s key deliverable is to support the dispatch of safe and compliant flights.

In addition, you will:

  • Support a safe on-time performance (OTP) culture within your team and between teams/departments/divisions.
  • Support department improvement initiatives through your team’s engagement and understanding of our objectives.
  • Actively promote an inclusive, consultative workplace.
  • Ensure regular communication of operational and business-related information to team members.
  • Progress and deliver ongoing continuous improvement and/or strategic project initiatives.
  • Knowledge of best practice learning and development methods.
  • Monitor and manage team member resourcing requirements.
  • Support the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives which support Virgin Australia's transformation deliverables.

What you need to be successful:

  • Proven ability to develop relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exposure to a multi-disciplinary team environment and proven ability to deliver on departmental results.
  • Ability to drive positive customer outcomes through a diverse workforce.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources / Industrial Relations.
  • Strong understanding of project management and change management principles, techniques and tools.
  • Strong understanding of load control, cargo and/or airport operations.

When everyone is included, everyone wins

We’re all individuals. And we love that. That’s why we encourage applications from Indigenous Australians, people with disability, those from diverse cultural backgrounds, our friends in the LGBTQI+ community, and anyone else who wants to join our family.
