We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Cargo Operations Lead based out of Sydney to join the Virgin Australia Cargo division.  

As the Cargo Operations Lead, you will oversee operations across NSW, ACT, and NT, ensuring safety, operational excellence, consistency, and innovation within Virgin Australia Cargo. You will collaborate closely with CTO vendors, cargo account customers, and suppliers to deliver exceptional cargo operations and maximise safe cargo revenue.

In addition, you will form a critical link between the day-to-day cargo operation and the broader Virgin Australia Cargo Division.  This will include influencing and contributing to the development and implementation of operating standards, SOPs, and initiatives as well as tracking mandatory training compliance in conjunction with the Cargo Standards.

In addition, you will

• Ensure that all cargo processes and procedures as set out by governing bodies are met.
• Provide input on operational system changes to ensure systems align with real-world operations.
• Escalate operational system issues to the Cargo systems team and work as an SME on the ground providing information to assist with resolution.
• Facilitate meetings with CTOs / Vendors to ensure a clear and consistent flow of communication is maintained.
• Ensure all required operational reports are completed including safety and occurrence reports.
• Liaise with various airport departments and customer base to ensure all parties have a detailed understanding of relevant initiatives.

You’ll be great for the role if you:

• 3-5 years of operational experience in air cargo or general cargo logistics leadership.
• Demonstrated experience with influencing, managing, and engaging with third-party vendors/stakeholders to deliver required safety and operational outcomes.
• Previous leadership experience in a multi-disciplined environment.
• A solid understanding of Security processes – both aviation and cargo security requirements (desirable)
• The ability to identify areas of improvement and recommend appropriate changes to process and procedures
