What you’ll be doing:

This position is responsible for designing, implementing and the ongoing improvement of the policies and procedures within Virgin Australia’s Safety Management System, including the operational risk and change management processes.

This role leads our Airline Publications Team, ensuring the document control system meets the requirements of Virgin Australia and conforms to the applicable regulatory and safety regulations. This is a 12 maximum term contract role.

Responsibilities include:

  • Management of the system of standards, controls and processes which enable Safety Systems to support Virgin Australia's Operations.
  • Develop and continuously improve on Virgin Australia’s Safety Management System
  • Develop, maintain and provide guidance on the Virgin Australia enterprise-wide Risk Management Program and Change Management Process (CMP)
  • Lead operational-wide risk assessments and change management plans to support Virgin Australia initiatives. 
  • Develop and deliver risk and change management training across the organisation
  • Provision of advice to senior management in relation to risk management standards and divisional risk reporting for the operations divisions Lead our Airline Publications Team to support the updating and distribution of Virgin Australia’s manual suite
  • Continuously manage, monitor and develop the Virgin Australia controlled document strategy, business processes and systems to deliver quality and compliant means of publication, production and distribution of controlled information

You'll be great in this role if you:

  • Come with experience leading and developing team members
  • Can develop and document systems procedures and processes suitable to satisfy regulatory and company business requirements
  • Have experience working with representatives of other departments of a high capacity airline to formulate joint-use procedures and policy
  • Can demonstrate the ability to achieve business objectives and policy/procedure development
  • Have previous experience diagnosing problems with existing systems and processes and working proactively to resolve issues and create effective and efficient alternatives
  • Are comfortable communicating at all levels
  • Have demonstrated ability in providing strategic direction and working collaboratively across divisions to achieve desired results.
  • Have a proven ability to analyse data in many forms and provide accurate and reliable advice and recommendations based on this analysis
  • Are an expert with regards to all applicable CASA regulations and the operational / commercial impacts of their application.
  • Have thorough and broad knowledge of airline operations policies and procedures and the ability to analyse them for both operational and regulatory efficiency.
  • Understand operational management systems.
  • Have a broad knowledge of airline operations and aviation industry
  • Have a deep understanding of Safety Management principles
  • Can demonstrate experience in applying risk management methodologies
  • Have knowledge of change management principles
