About Virgin Australia Regional Airlines (VARA)
VARA operates out of Perth Airport and has a fleet of F100 aircraft and A320 aircraft that predominantly conduct charter operations to regional Western Australia. VARA has continued to operate through COVID-19 and beyond to support our major clients in the mining industry and the future is exciting and prosperous.
VARA is a subsidiary of the Virgin Australia group. Using your strong communication and interpersonal skills, you will engage and support our managers and leaders and help them to apply the WHS Management System into their day-to-day business activities. You will act as a focal point, enabling compliance with statutory WHS obligations and continual implementation & improvement to WHS.
The role is responsible for supporting the management team with WHS guidance and input to ensure appropriate actions are being taken to address hazards in the workplace and ultimately create a safer work environment. You will also undertake WHS audits, investigations and inspections of VARA’s various business units. You will partner with our externally contracted providers to ensure compliance with WHS regulations and facilitate safety-related training.
You will be a self-motivate individual who is passionate about safety. Crucial to the success of this role will be the ability to learn quickly, be results focussed and develop great working relationships. You can analyse issues, pre-empt problems and make meaningful recommendations.
You also demonstrate:
- Effective communication and a passion for working collaboratively
- A desire to be part of a great culture and a high performing team
- Understanding of WHS inspections and incident investigation
- A result-focused attitude with an ability to continuously learn and develop
- Cert IV or higher in WHS or similar
- Ability to interpret legislation & standards, producing practical operational solutions
- Change Advocate with a flair and a desire for continuous improvement
What you need to be successful
You might be fresh out of university, have a few years of operational experience or just want a fresh start in an airline environment. We are looking for potential, drive and passion to start a career in a newly-shaped Safety Systems Department in a thriving business.
