What you’ll be doing

The objective of the Project Manager role is to manage and deliver complex projects across the Virgin Australia group. You will work with our Business Technology team, overseeing projects and closely managing internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered to a high standard. This includes managing the project scope and budget, while ensuring adequate resourcing and governance is in place to meet company standards. Upcoming projects will focus on the delivery of new technology across the airline – including Operations, Finance, Engineering, Revenue Management, and overall technology capability.

Further responsibilities: 

  • Manage overall delivery end to end with key focus areas of scope, resources, timelines, risks and issues, stakeholders, quality and financial budgets
  • Experience working with waterfall and agile methodologies, validating and driving initiatives through to business case definition
  • Collaborate with project/program sponsors, stakeholders, vendors and cross-functional teams across the business to plan and baseline scope, deliverables, and timing
  • Develop and baseline project management plans
  • Develop and actively manage project plans
  • Ensure deadlines, priorities and dependencies are communicated and understood by all stakeholders and delivery teams
  • Produce accurate and timely project reports and monitor project performance
  • Setup project structure and manage all required governance processes
  • Ensure RAIDD (risk, assumption, issue, dependency, decision) registers are in place and actively maintained
  • Define and manage relevant delivery resources/teams (internal and external) to ensure project success
  • Ensure delivery compliance with the Virgin Australia/ Velocity Delivery Framework and supports its continuous improvement
  • Build and maintain accountable, high performing and engaged project teams

You’ll be great in this role if you…

  • 5+ years’ experience in a managing complex, technical projects in a fast paced commercial environment
  • Degree in a relevant field, or equivalent work experience
  • Exceptional leadership, time management, facilitation, and organizational skills
  • Strong and flexible stakeholder management skills and engagement style
  • Experience using Project Management Tools
  • Experience working with vendors and managing contracts
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and under pressure, with tight timelines
  • Outstanding working knowledge of project and change management principles and performance management frameworks and methodologies
  • Experience with a personalisation project is highly advantageous
