Operations Data Insights and Analytics Lead

About the role: 

As the Operations Data Insights and Analytics Lead, you will leverage data to identify opportunities for optimisation and support informed forecasting and decision making across Operations at Virgin Australia. Reporting to the Head of Operations Continuous Improvement, you will be responsible for delivering actionable insights, driving analytics initiatives, and fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making. Collaborating with teams across the business, you’ll implement advanced analytics tools and methodologies to support strategic objectives, track performance, and improve operations

You’ll be great for this role if you have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, data analytics, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in operations transformation, with demonstrated success in leading cross-functional projects and teams.
  • Proven ability to analyse operational challenges and deliver actionable insights that drive measurable improvements.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing streamlined business processes, with a focus on sustainable change.
  • Solid understanding of operational workflows, logistics, and financial impacts on business transformation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and execute large-scale transformation initiatives effectively and efficiently.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with a strong track record of aligning diverse teams to achieve strategic objectives.

Desirable but not required: 

  • MBA, with a focus on operations, supply chain, or aviation management.
  • Proficiency in financial modelling to support route profitability, fleet planning, and operational cost optimization.
  • Strong background in human-centered change management, particularly in workforce optimization and customer-centric service enhancements.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing operational strategies aligned with airline business goals and market dynamics.
  • Experience in managing large-scale, cross-functional projects within an agile framework, including operational systems upgrades and process transformations.
  • Proven ability to conduct enterprise-level operational planning, such as schedule optimization, capacity planning, and resource allocation.
  • Previous experience in managing corporate and operational risk, including safety, compliance, and disruption recovery in an airline context.
