Commercial Performance Specialist

Full-time, 23 month Brisbane / Sydney based maximum-term contract.

What you’ll be doing

The objective of the Commercial Performance Specialist role is to provide insightful, accurate and timely analysis of revenue opportunities, to help shape the prioritisation of digital initiatives to in-turn, improve Virgin Australia's (VA's) revenue performance and maximise return on investment. This will include analysing opportunities that help shape VA’s test and learn programme, as well as utilising data from this programme itself to prioritise what is fed into, and committed to code in the overall digital delivery roadmap. The role will build and help evaluate financial business cases for potential digital initiatives and investment.

Further responsibilities include:

  • Use Microsoft Excel, PowerBI, Adobe and other digital analytical tools to proactively interrogate and analyse data to identify trends, gaps and opportunities that help the company prioritize digital resources
  • Transform analytical output into actionable insights that will improve decision making and consequently drive business performance
  • Participate in the analysis and documentation of commercial and strategic objectives as they relate to solution design, delivery or development
  • Analyse individual digital product initiatives as they pass through the agile development process in terms of their revenue opportunities based on impact on conversion, average fare and ancillary revenue
  • Provide data insights into how initiatives can be enhanced as they progress through to full implementation
  • Continuously develop understanding of revenue opportunity sizing based on learnings from previous experiments as well as implementations to improve accuracy of analysis
  • Build and help evaluate financial business cases for future direct channel initiatives and investment. Build accurate detailed models that take various data inputs into account then summarise for executive decision making
  • Undertake relevant research and analysis of information/data from internal and external sources to develop recommendations for stakeholder endorsement
  • Continual delivery of strong recommendations with options considered and supported by a high degree of research and analysis
  • Support in allocated projects and drive to outcomes
  • Promote a data lead culture through the use of data and analytical decision making across the Commercial Division

You’ll be great in this role if you…

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (Business, Economics, Finance, etc.)
  • A background in Management Consulting or a similar commercial/analytical role (minimum 3 years' post graduate experience)
  • Experience analysing digital and commercial data
  • Experience forecasting revenue opportunities based on digital and commercial variables
  • Experience operating with ambiguity in pursuit of an overall objective
  • Advanced Excel, PowerBI and digital skills
  • Ability to use data insights to generate easily interpreted, impactful Microsoft PowerPoint presentations
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Attention to detail with respect to interrogation of data quality and the generation of insightful reporting
  • Understanding of the digital, financial and commercial aspects of the industry and business
  • Knowledge of Adobe suite (AEM, Target, Analytics)
